1.1. TRANSMISSION FLUIDS
PETRO-AMERICA, Transmission fluids are formulation of selected, highly refined base oils blended with a specialty balanced additive system. These products have outstanding high temperature oxidation resistance, dispersancy, and detergency, anti-corrosion and rust protection, and excellent compatibility with the various automatic transmission components such as elastomeric seals and plastic parts. Their high viscosity index
( VI )characteristics permit use over a wide temperature range by providing excellent low temperature fluidity and also retaining required viscosity at elevated temperature conditions. These two products are very similar in all of these characteristics, but differ in their special friction properties. type 7226 is characterized by a lower static than dynamic coefficient of friction, while TYPE F is characterized by a higher static than dynamic coefficient of friction.
Type 7226 ( DEXRON III * / MERCON * ) meets all the requirements of the GM Dexron III specification and it is recommended for use in all types of passenger car automatic transmissions for which Dexron III type products are recommended. This generally includes all domestic passenger car transmissions except those FORD transmissions which specify M2C33-F fluids. It may be used for service fill where FORD M2C138-CH, FORD M2C166-H, MERCON, DEXRON, DEXRON II, DEXRON IIE, OR DEXRON III is recommended. It also meets the CATERPILLAR TO-2, ALLISON C-4 fluid specs., CHRYSLER, and most foreign manufacturers.
TYPE F, meets the ford M2C33F specification and is recommended for use in all FORD passenger car automatic transmissions prior to 1977 models as well as 1977 through 1980 models. It may be used in other transmission applications where it's special friction characteristics are beneficial or required.
TYPE A, economy transmission fluid with additives to aid in the resistance of heat building, oxidation, foaming, corrosion, and wear. compatible with original equipment fluid.
