7.2. QUENCHING OIL
PETRO-AMERICA, quenching oil consist of a homogenous petroleum hydrocarbon. This oil is intended for use as quenching media in the heat treatment of metal. It can be used when in steel quenching when deep and uniform hardening is required where steel has small grain size or wide variation in grain size or has lean alloy content or variable hardenability, and in parts having variable sections or odd shapes. It provides deeper and more uniform hardening, excellent thermal stability, controlled cooling of metals with minimum fire hazard, minimal oil carryoff and stable additive package.
