10.4. HYDRAULIC OILS, GENERAL PURPOSE
GLOBAL, high quality hydraulic oils are made of highly refined paraffinic, high V.I. base oils with antiwear additives, oxidation inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, foam and aeration suppressants. They can be used as spindle or telemotor oils aboard ships, vane/piston/gear type pumps with pressures over 1000 psi, lightly loaded reciprocating compressor, and general purpose lubricants for motors, bearings, etc. . They should not be used in high pressure systems in areas subject to fire hazard.
( warning: some hydraulic oils are made from re-refined paraffinic base, they should not be used in applications subject to pressures exceeding 1000 psi, GLOBAL hydraulic oils are made from virgin paraffinic base oil ).
